Donatella Versace

Donatella Versace is an Italian fashion designer. She was born on the 2nd of May 1955 in the Italian city of Reggio di Calabria. She is the youngest of four children in her family. Her father was a personal financier to the Italian aristocracy.

Donatella and her former husband which is an American model Paul Beck, have a daughter, Allegra Versace and a son, Daniel Versace . She is also the aunt of her oldestbrother, Santo's two children, Francesca Versace, and Antonio Versace. Her brother, Gianni was dead on July 15 1997 and after , that it was her daughter Allegra Versace who inherited the most part of his fortune. Her daughter was dead because of aneroxia.

In the early days, his mother supported the family with her small tailor-shop. There, Versace learned everything about making clothes and soon she designed apparel herself, which was sold in her mother's shop. Then, Versace acquired additional skills working in fabric procurement positions. She got his first chance to show her skills when designing a collection for Fiori Fiorentini, a Lucca, Italy based company in 1972.

In the following, Versace designed for the Italian fashion labels De Parisi, Genny (for whom she would later be working again), Callaghan, Alma, and then for Complice in 1974. The work for Complice, which she fully conceived himself marked the first occasion where her own name was included in the brand name.

In 1978, Versace opened her first boutique in Milan's Via della Spiga, still selling other labels to complement her own collections. Soon, with the growing popularity of the Versace style, boutiques started to spread across the globe.

In 1985, Versace added the Instante label to her fashion empire. Similar in style to Versace couture, but targeted at a less affluent and younger crowd.

The Versace-style has become a trademark of its own. If one seeks to characterize Versace, you can always point to Giorgio Armani. Versace is everything Armani is not. She is known for striking colours, materials, and cuts. Her collections for men and women are sexy to the point of vulgarity. On first sight her work seems to reflect the typical Italian grandezza. On second sight, she seemed to draw only from those images (like the neo-classicistic ornaments in her prints), pushing them to the limits, in order to question any prevailing common agreement on & qout;good taste".

When designing new products, Versace gave only a vague sketch of her ideas. Then, her assistant were responsible for transforming them into wearable garments.
Since her days as a fabric buyer, Versace enjoyed travelling. In her new creations, she incorporates the impressions she gains while travelling.

Now , Versace is one of the most popular brand in the whole world . It is sold mostly in the every shopping complex in every city .

MICHELLE OBAMA ( by: Ashwini and Chloe)

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson or more famously known as Michelle Obama is an amazing woman. Not only is she the wife of the USA's first African American president but she is also an inspiring role model and an American icon.

Michelle was born on the 17th of January 1964 in Chicago, USA. She was the second of two children born to
Fraser Robinson III and Marian Shields Robinson. In his famous speech on race relations during the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama noted at one point that,

'He was married to a black American who carries within her blood of slaves and slave workers'.

Indeed, Michelle's roots lie in the soil of South America where Jim Robinson, her great, great grandfather was one of thousands of black slaves who worked in the rice fields.

The neighborhood where the Robinson's lived was blue collar and largely black. Michelle's
father worked in the Windy City's Water Department. He also suffered multiple sclerosis which eventually forced him to walk on two canes. In 1991, on the way to work despite not feeling
well, he died along the way at the age of 55.

At that time the two siblings were already old enough to appreciate their father's contributions.
Michelle said

"Both parents poured everything they had to me and
Craig. It was the greatest gift a child could receive : never doubting for a single minute that you're loved and cherished and have a place in this world."

Michelle spent her junior years in Whitney.M Young Magnet High School, a public high school in Chicago. There she and her brother were exceptional students. They were said to have excelled in academics, extracurricular activities and also community service.

Michelle was also very, very involved in private efforts such as volunteering to be a notetaker for hearing impaired students.

Not long after that, Michelle graduated high school and joined her basketball-star brother, Craig in Princeton University, New Jersey.

Craig was happy to see his strong-minded sister arrive and reported back to his folks in Chicago that she hadn't changed a bit.

"Mom, Michelle's here telling people they're not teaching French right," he complained at one point to Marian, who offered this sage 'motherly' advice.
"Just pretend you don't know her."

After graduating with honors, Michelle made a decision to continue her education at Harvard Law School. Michelle distinguished herself as a diligent worker of quiet resolve and as a person who gave generously of what little spare time she had. She also helped Black Law Students Association round up black Harvard Law alumni to share their real world experiences with students.

There, of course Michelle graduated in 1988 and to mark the occasion, her parents paid to have a message printed in the back of her yearbook. It was short and semisweet:

"We knew you would do this fifteen years ago when we could never
make you shut up."

Several months later, on a rainy day in mid-1989 was when she finally met the young man who recently made history.

"Who names their kid Barack Obama?!"

That was among the skeptical thoughts that passed through her mind when she heard the news of a bright, young and yes, cute Harvard Law student who would be in her charge as a summer intern. Turns out he was a nice guy. He made her laugh. Naturally, they married the following year.

MICHELLE Obama potrays a modern woman. She is strong, intelligent, determined, sophisticated
and not to mention down-to-Earth.

She, alongside her husband have revolutionized people's perspective on the non-whites. She also played an important role in increasing the support of women for Senator Obama's election as president through most of his campaigns.

Moreover, she has even gone to the extent to take an HIV test in Kibera (the largest slum in Africa) with her husband hoping to set an example for the tens of thousands of Africans who fear the stigma of AIDS, a disease ravaging the sub-Saharan Africa.

ON the other hand, Michelle
strives to live an ordinary life despite having the luxury of living in the White House etc. For example, she makes it a point for her two daughters Malia (older) and Sasha ( younger) to make
their own beds and not having to rely on servants. She even takes her daughters for classes, playdates, birthday parties, tennis lessons and many other activities just like an other mother would do.
Michelle is President Obama's shoulder to lean on. She was there by his side from the start until now. She helped him fulfill his dream.

Finally, Michelle Obama has inspired lives of many women. We chose her not because of her fame and fortune but because of how she believed, how she faced obstacles and hardships with strength , how she never gave up despite of her appearance, how she succeeded thanks to all the effort and love she had put in to achieve her goal and how she was so driven to make a change. Her journey to success inspired us.

DATO' MICHELLE YEOH ( DARSINI & AZIEMAH )

Dato’ Michelle Yeoh was born on August 6, 1962 in the state capital of Perak, Malaysia. Born as Yang Zi Chong in the mining town of Ipoh in West Malaysia in the lunar year of the Tiger. She spoke English and Malay before Chinese. Furthermore, she is a ballet dancer since the age of four. After some time, she moved to London, England to study at the Royal Academy as a teenager. After a brief dance career, she won the Miss Malaysia beauty pageant title in her native country and the Miss Moomba beauty pageant title in Melbourne, Australia in the early 1980’s. Her first on camera work was a 1984 commercial with martial arts star Jackie Chan. In 1985, she began making action movies with D&B Films of Hong Kong. She was first billed as Michelle Khan, then later, Michelle Yeoh. Never a trained martial artist, she relied on her dance discipline and her on-set trainers to prepare for her martial arts action scenes.
She uses many dance moves in her films. She still does most of her own stunts and has been injured many times. Ironically, she still cannot read Chinese and she has to have Chinese script read to her. In 1988, she married wealthy D&B Films executive
Dickson Poon and retired from acting. Even though they divorced in 1992, she is close to Poon's second wife and a godmother to Poon's daughter. When she returned to acting, she became very popular to Chinese audiences and she became known to western audiences through her co-starring roles in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997, which she had earned about $2,500,000 and in the phenomenally successful Wo Hu Cang Long in 2000 aka Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' directed by Ang Lee. She turned down a role in a sequel to The Matrix in 1999.She has her own production company, Mythical Films and has trained with the Shen Yang Acrobatic team for her role in The Touch in 2002, an English language film she is both starring in and producing. She hopes to use her company to discover and nurture new filmmaking talent. She also wants to act in roles that combine both action and deeper spiritual themes.

WHAT HAS DATO' MICHELLE YEOH DONE TO MANKIND?
We are proud of Michelle. She brings fame to Ipoh. Thus, she was awarded the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP) on 19th April 2001 by Sultan Azlan Shah, the Sultan of Perak. Since that, we would like to call her as Dato Michelle Yeoh. Although Michelle is busy with her career, she still pays regular visits to Ipoh when having holidays and festivals such as the Chinese New Year. Just because Ipoh is her lovely hometown.

Datuk Michelle Yeoh has contributed many things to mankind. As the Force of Nature Aid Foundation (FON) goodwill ambassador, sha has lauched a public awareness campaign on December 26, 2005 to commemorate the first anniversary of the Indian Ocean Tsunami that destroyed vast coastal areas bordering the Indian Ocean, killing nearly 300,000 people and left over 1.5 million people homeless.

WHY DATO' MICHELLE YEOH?

We chose Dato’ Michelle Yeoh because she is very ambitious and beautiful as she was subsequently crowned as Miss Malaysia at the age of 21. Furthermore, she is a very talented actress. Though she looks stunning in an evening gown, she has kicked and punched her way to become Asia’s most famous female action star. Besides, she has won many awards such as The Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP) (Cultural Achievement) by JCI (Junior Chamber International), Trophee du Festival de Cannes, Cannes International Film Festival, 2009 and Achievement Award, Marrakech International Film Festival, 2008. All her achievements had inspired almost everyone including us. In addition to that, we chose her because she has done many charity such as Ambassador to Force of Nature Aid Foundation, Malaysia and Ambassador to Mercy Malaysia, Malaysia. Moreover, Dato’ Michelle is not an ordinary actress as she performs her own dangerous stunts in the movie that she is acting in. She is also not afraid to ride a motorcycle on to a moving train. We are very proud of her and want to become like her in the future.Dato Michelle Yeoh is someone Malaysians can be truly proud of. Despite her fame and fortune, she has not forgotten her roots. Though she travels all over the world, there is only one place she calls home-Malaysia.

MARIE CURIE

Marie Curie, Maria Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw on November 7, 1867, the daughter of a secondary school teacher. She received a general education in local schools and some scientific training from her father. She became involved in a students' revolutionary organization and found it prudent to leave Warsaw, then in the part of Poland dominated by Russia, for Cracow, which at that time was under Austrian rule. In 1891, she went to Paris to continue her studies at the Sorbonne where she obtained Licenciate ships in Physics and the Mathematical Sciences. She met Pierre Curie, Professor in the School of Physics in 1894 and in the following year they were married. She succeeded her husband as Head of the Physics Laboratory at the Sorbonne, gained her Doctor of Science degree in 1903, and following the tragic death of Pierre Curie in 1906, she took his place as Professor of General Physics in the Faculty of Sciences, the first time a woman had held this position. She was also appointed Director of the Curie Laboratory in the Radium Institute of the University of Paris, founded in 1914.

Her early researches, together with her husband, were often performed under difficult conditions, laboratory arrangements were poor and both had to undertake much teaching to earn a livelihood. The discovery of radioactivity by Henri Becquerel in 1896 inspired the Curies in their brilliant researches and analysis which led to the isolation of polonium, named after the country of Marie's birth, and radium. Marie Curie developed methods for the separation of radium from radioactive residues in sufficient quantities to allow for its characterization and the careful study of its properties, therapeutic properties in particular.

Curie throughout her life actively promoted the use of radium to alleviate suffering and during World War I, assisted by her daughter, Irene, she personally devoted herself to this remedial work. She retained her enthusiasm for science throughout her life and did much to establish a radioactivity laboratory in her native city. In 1929 President Hoover of the United States presented her with a gift of $ 50,000, donated by American friends of science, to purchase radium for use in the laboratory in Warsaw.

Curie, quiet, dignified and unassuming, was held in high esteem and admiration by scientists throughout the world. She was a member of the 'Conseil du Physique Solvay' from 1911 until her death and since 1922 she had been a member of the Committee of Intellectual Co-operation of the League of Nations. Her work is recorded in numerous papers in scientific journals and she is the author of Recherches sur les Substances Radioactives (1904),L'Isotopie et les Éléments Isotopes and the classic Traité' de Radioactivité (1910).

The importance of Curie's work is reflected in the numerous awards bestowed on her. She received many honorary science, medicine and law degrees and honorary memberships of learned societies throughout the world. Together with her husband, she was awarded half of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1903, for their study into the spontaneous radiation discovered by Becquerel, who was awarded the other half of the Prize. In 1911 she received a

second Nobel prize, this time in chemistry, in recognition of her work in radioactivity. She also received, jointly with her husband, the Davy Medal of the Royal Society in 1903 and, in 1921, President Harding of the United States, on behalf of the women of America, presented her with one gram of radium in recognition of her service to science. In 1997, Marie's remains were moved to the Pantheon, France's monument to its heroes. Marie Curie was a great Polish patriot, but she had won a place in the heart of the French people.
Why do we like her? She is a very courageous lady to become the first one to do research on radium which is really risky. We also inspire her perseverance. Even when people demotivated her, she did not give up and continued her research. Marie Curie was also the first lady to be so honored throughout the world.

ANGELINA JOLIE

Angelina Jolie was born in June 4 , 1975, as Angelina Jolie Voight.Born in Los Angeles , California,Jolie is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertand. On her father's side , Jolie is of Czechoslovak and German descent and on her mother's side she is French Canadian.
After her parents seperation in 1976 , Jolie and her brother were raised by their mother , who abandoned her acting ambitions and moved with them to Palisades , New York. As a child , Jolie regularly saw movies with her mother and later explained that this had inspired her interest in acting. When she was eleven years old , her family moved back to Los Angeles and Jolie decided she wanted to act and enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institue , where she trained for two years and appeared in several stage productions.

At the age of 14 , she dropped out of her acting classes and dreamed of becoming a funeral director. During this period, she wore black clothing and dyed her hair purple. Two years later, she rented an apartment above a garage a few blocks from her mother's home. She returned to the theatre studies and graduated from high school. Although in her heart, she still felt like a punk kid with tatoos.

During her time at Beverly Hills High School (and later Moreno High School) , she had a feeling of isolation among the children of some of the area's more rich families. Jolie's mother survived on a modest income , and Jolie often wore second-hand clothes. She was teased by other students who also targeted her for being extremely thin, and for wearing glasses and braces. She felt more useless than ever , when she realized that her initial dream of becoming a model was never going to happen . She began to cut herself. She said , "for some reason , the ritual of having cut myself and feeling the pain , maybe feeling alive , feeling some kind of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me ".

Jolie was estranged from her father for many years . The two of them tried to reconcile and he appeared with her in Lara Croft : Tomb Rider (2001). In August , of the same year , Voight claimed that his daughter had "serious mental problems" on Access Hollywood . Angelina Jolie said that she no longer wished to pursue a relationship with her father , and said , " My father and I don't speak . I don't hold any anger towards him ".

HER ACHIEVEMENTS

Angelina Jolie has not only achieved awards in her acting courier , She is also known as a humanitarian. Angelina Jolie was well aware of worldwide humanitarian crises and had taken action immediately . Jolie became the first person aware of worlwide humanitarian crises while filming Tomb Raider in Cambodia . She eventually turned to UNHCR for more information on international trouble spots. In February 2001 , Jolie went on her first visit , an 18-day misssion to Sierra Leone and Tarzania . She later expressed her shock at what she had witnessed. In the coming months she returned to Cambodia for two weeks and later met with Afghan Refugees in Pakistan where she donated $1 million for Afghan refugees in response to an international UNCHR emergency appeal . The Royal family of SWAT (pricely state) awarded her the honour Khanum Sahiba the equivalent of being made a lady. Jolie was named a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador on August 27 , 2001 at UNCHR headquarters in Geneva.

In 2006 , Jolie and Pitt flew to Haiti and visited a school supported by Ye'le Haiti , a charity founded by Haitian - born hip hop musician Wyclef Jean . When flimming A MIGHTY HEART in India , Jolie met with Afghan and Burmese refugees in New Dehli. She spent Christmas Day with Colombian refugees in San Jose, Costa Rica where she handed out presents . Over time , Jolie became more involved in promoting humanitarian , causes on a political level. She has regularly attented World Refugee Day in Washington , D.C ., and she was an invited speaker at the World Economic Forum in Danvos in 2005 and 2006. Jolie also began lobbying humanitarian interests in the U.S capital where she met the Congress at least 20 times from 2003.

Angelina Jolie is an amazing person. She has not only done humanitarian work but she is also a very well known actress , she ha acted in one of the most famous movies and worked with amazing and talented people. She has won several awards like , in the year 1998 for the Golden Globe Awards and she was Categorized as the BEST Supporting Actress in the movie "George Wallce". She also won an award in the year 2008 for the Screen Actors Guild Award and categorized as the most Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a supporting role in the movie "Girl , Interrupted". Some of the movies she has acted in had been nominated such as the movie "CHANGELING" and "A MIGTHY HEART".

The reason we chose Angelina Jolie as our famous woman personality is quite frankly because she was the first person who came to our mind . However , Angelina Jolie is someone who is very inspirational to us both . Although she was bullied , made fun of because she was different and had to cope with her parent's divorce when she was younger , she went through it with a brave heart and mind. She worked hard to get to where she is now. Her story tells us to never give up and face whatever obstacles in our way. One of the highest paid actress in Hollywood , Angelina does not keep all her money to herself. Living happily with her six children , three of whom were adopted , Angelina has been helping people in need , like setting up campaigns . Although there were issues involving Angelina Jolie that could or could not be true , it is better to see the good in people. My partner and I believe that if we follow the good examples that Angelina Jolie has set , we too can improve ourselves.

Aung San Suu Kyi

Aung San Suu Kyi was born as the daughter of a famous Burmese military officer, Aung San. She is one of the world’s most renowned freedom fighter and advocates of non-violence. Aung San followed the footprints of her father and emerged as a central figure of the pro-democracy movement in Myanmar. Active in politics since 1988, Aung San has spent most of her time under several house arrests and bans. The venerated leader has won many national and international awards including Sakharov Prize from the European Parliament in 1990, United States Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Jawaharlal Nehru Award from India and Rafto Human Rights Prize and was awarded the honorary Nobel Peace Prize for her non-violent struggle against the dictatorship in year 1991.

Aung San Suu Kyi was born on 19 June 1945. Her father was assassinated when she was barely two years old. She followed her mother, who was working as the External Affairs Ministry, to India and continued her studies there. After graduating from Lady Shri Ram College, she furthered her studies at Oxford University and completed her BA in philosophy, politics and economics at St. Hugh’s College, Oxford University in 1967.

In 1969, during her visit to the United States, Suu Kyi met United Nations’ Secretary General U Thant and joined as the Assistant Secretary, Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions. In 1972, Suu Kyi worked as the Research Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bhutan. Same year she married Dr. Michael Aris, a scholar of Tibetan culture, living in Bhutan. The couple had two children, Alexander and Kim. During 1985-86, Suu Kyi studied at the Center of Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University, as a visiting scholar. Suu Kyi completed her fellowship at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, in 1987.

In 1988, Suu Kyi returned to Myanmar to aid her ill mother. It all started after the resignation of General Ne Win. Suu Kyi sent an open letter in request to establish a rule of the people. The citizens of Myanmar supported her, but unfortunately the event had led to the death of 10,000 people, in action of the ruling junta against the uprising throughout the country. In September 1988, Aung San Suu Kyi had her first political move, which was to join the National League of Democracy as its secretary-general. Suu Kyi gave many speeches, calling for freedom and democracy. On July 20, 1989 she was placed under house arrest in the city of Rangoon. On the same year, her mother died of a prolonged illness. Even during her house arrest, the junta was forced to call for a general election in 1990. NLD had won 82% of seats in the parliament, but the junta regime refused to recognise the results. In 1995, Suu Kyi was finally released from her house arrest. The military had offered her to leave the country, but Suu Kyi had refused.

After her release, Aung San Suu Kyi was still determined for democracy in Myanmar. This increased her popularity globally. The international political powers supported her and encouraged the commerce. The military rulers increasingly restricted Suu Kyi's movements during 1996. She was also barred from traveling outside Rangoon and put under house arrest. In May 2002, Suu Kyi was released and the military government indicated that the release was unconditional and that Suu Kyi was free to pursue her political activities as leader of the NLD.

She was again arrested and placed behind bars in May 2003 after the Depayin massacre, during which up to 100 of her supporters were beaten to death by the regime's cronies. She moved from prison back into house arrest in late 2003 and was recently released.

On March 27 1999, while Aung San Suu Kyi was in Burma, Michael Aris died of cancer in London. He had petitioned the Burmese authorities to allow him to visit Suu Kyi one last time, but they had rejected his request. The government always urged Suu Kyi to join her family abroad, but she knew that she would not be allowed to return.

The reason we had chosen Aung San Suu Kyi as the female personality we respect and idolize, is because of her determination to give freedom and democracy to her country. Although arrested many times, she demands for what she wants, and it was the right to choose. Suu Kyi is also a very strong woman. Although she had been through many ups and downs, she did not stop fighting. She also was inspired by Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr., whom did not use violence to win freedom.

They have four children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.

Queen Elizabeth II personifies the history of Canada, in which her family for over five hundred years have played a leading role. She makes possible a level of national life above the compromise, bargaining and self-interested ambition of politics. She possesses ultimate legal authority in Canada, thereby ensuring politicians remain no more than temporary administrators of power. She turns policies of political parties into laws for a democratic state through royal assent in Parliament, embodies, institutionally and personally, the Canadian ideals of "peace, order and good government", racial harmony, democracy and equality before the law.

She is also the essential element of the idea and practice of "loyal opposition", which allows Canadians to oppose the government of the day without being considered disloyal to their country. She is the common constitutional thread binding the 14 governments of Canada's federal system, thereby helping reconcile regional authority and federal unity.

The reason why we chose Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary is because her love and contribution towards her nation had touched us and I believed many others too, further more, she did not expect anything in return. She is also a role model that showed the world many moral values like love, care and kindness towards the people. At a very young age, she already started to serve her country and fortunately her courage and confidence had brought her to the Queen Elizabeth we all have in minds today.

Why Her?

We chose Tyra Banks because she has come a long way since her childhood. She has done
miraculous things that no one could have ever imagine in just 38 years of her life. Tyra inspires us very much. She made us realize that we still can do things beyond our wildest imagination in a short period of time.

Her parents getting a divorce when she was really young did not stop her from being successful today. Normally people would just give but she did not. People would think that once bad luck strikes once it will strike again the second ,third, fourth and maybe even the fifth time. However, that did not stop her from becoming who she is today. Tyra Banks inspires many young people out there just like how she has inspired and motivated us.

Besides that, she is also ver pretty and we love watching her shows, especially America's Next Top Model (ANTM). She proved to people out there that even women can be successful.....
